1. SPIRIT OF ST AGNES/HUNT'S 50th 5 STEP - Welcome aboard… a couple of tunes in 5/4 - a distinctive time signature in Cornish music.

2. GIG JIGS (GIG SHED JIG, RALPH BIRD'S, THE NEWQUAY ) - A set of jigs celebrating the life of gig builder Ralph Bird. The names of his gigs can be heard over the music, read by one of Ralph’s sons - John. The Newquay is the oldest surviving gig, built in 1812 when Napoleon was still running around Europe!

3. SLIPPEN - A slip jig named after one of Scilly’s oldest and most illustrious gigs.

4. KABM PYMPS (TURK'S HEAD, NEW INN, OLD TOWN INN) - All gig races end in a pub. The Turk’s Head and the New Inn mark the finish of two important races in Scilly’s domestic calendar. Old Town Inn is a great tune from Cornish musician Neil Davey.

5. THE WRECK OF THE DELAWARE - This track tells the extraordinary story of a rescue performed by a Bryher gig in 1871. The poem is written by Robert Maybe - a Nineteenth century Scillonian poet - and read by Mike Hicks (a modern Scillonian).

6. GIG RACE TRIP-JIG - This track recreates a gig race in Scilly, including the starter’s voice on the VHF radio. A trip-jig is somewhere between a slip jig and a Cornish ‘Kabm Pymp’ (Five Step).

7. ROWING HOME - These are the best rows of all: everyone mellow after a race and a few pints; the sun setting; phosphorescence on the blades…

8. SEASICK SCILLONIAN HORNPIPE - Anyone who has been over for Newquay v. Scilly weekends in late September knows what 3 hours on the Scillonian can do to you. This uneven, slightly queasy 5/4 hornpipe is a reminder. The poem is read (with feeling) by James Sills.

9. FALMOUTH GIG/OFF SHE GOES - Two traditional Cornish tunes, the second of which was used to start races at regattas. The track is overlaid with commentary from Falmouth ladies’ winning race at the World Pilot Gig Championships in 2013.

10. ELLIOTT'S/OFF SHE GOES - The beautiful new bells in St Mary’s church celebrate the finish…
